Commodity Manager

Summary

The Commodity Manager is responsible for strategic sourcing of goods and services required for the manufacture of Projection Systems by Christie Digital . The successful candidate will lead a cross functional team for sourcing and supplier qualification including conducting commercial and financial audits.

Development and implementation of a global commodity strategy is a key element of this role. This person will be responsible for ensuring that the right supply base is selected for their assigned commodity while achieving aggressive cost reduction targets and creating risk mitigation plans. The candidate will complete commodity and industry benchmarking projects and ensure technology roadmap alignment between suppliers and Christie’s engineering group. This role will also involve the development and management of the strategic supplier relationships and leading quarterly supplier reviews to ensure best value and continuous and reliable supply of goods and services to Christie.

  • Global sourcing
  • Negotiating global contract pricing
  • Supply agreement contract negotiations
  • Commercial and financial supplier analysis
  • Risk mitigation planning
  • Development and implementation of global commodity strategies
  • Contribution to supply chain strategy for NPI
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Supplier development
  • Holding quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers
  • Resolving long term or chronic quality or supply issues
  • Maintaining commodity part knowledge, global supplier knowledge, market knowledge
  • Identifying new opportunities and innovation
  • Development of effective relationships with divisional teams to ensure that Supply Chain Management is fully involved with new business opportunities
  • Driving continuous improvement through trend analysis and metrics management

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering
  • CPP, CSCMP or CPIM
  • 5-7+ years of experience
  • 3+ years in high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Working with contract manufacturing
  • Experience with plastics, metals and tooling is an asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel both nationally and internationally, as required.
