Director, Finance

Location: Kitchener

As Director of Finance, this position develops and maintains internal controls, accounting and reporting policies and practices (for Canada, the UK and Europe), while providing management to the functional accounting areas. The Director ensures the compliance of the company from a financial and JSOX audit perspective. This leader provides expertise and analysis to give senior management an understanding of the company’s financial performance and to positively impact and increase financial performance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and staff management to the Finance departments responsible for accounting, budgeting, credit, collection and local tax functions.

  • Establishes and monitors policies and procedures so they will have a positive impact on the profitability of the company.

  • Provides information, financial guidance and advice to division management consistent with overall financial policy and in view of financial markets and trends. Underscores the financial impact of business plans and decisions.

  • Coordinates the treasury function, which includes cash management, credit and relationships with banks and investments.

  • Oversees the preparation of monthly and other financial statements (of earnings, balance sheet, retained earning etc.) and provides relevant financial analysis of results.

  • Provides risk management by ensuring the proper and accurate handling of all financial transactions and documentation.

  • Contributes to the success of large projects and initiatives (i.e. implementation of new technology) by developing controls and processes that integrate with existing financial systems.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Commerce, Economics or Business
  • CA, CGA or CMA designation

  • 7 to 10 years similar industry accounting experience in a leadership role

  • Ability to meet extremely aggressive timelines

  • Ability to analyse complicated data and forecast impacts

  • Ability to communicate technical financial information in clearly understood terms

  • Ability to coach, motivate and develop professional staff

  • JDEdwards expertise an asset
