Product Compliance Specialist

The Product Compliance Specialist ensures that the Compliance department secures certification (safety, EMC, RF and environmental) for products in all applicable jurisdictions. The individual will also ensure to exercise control on internal processes that prevent shipment of unsafe or non-compliant products and to give direction and guidance to the Product Development teams.


  • Electrical Engineering Degree, Electronic Technologist diploma or related discipline
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an engineering or technical compliance position
  • Experience with scheduling product testing, standards interpretation and report documentation
  • Experience coordinating and managing 3rd party testing and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical or complex information
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills


  • Clearly communicate technical and complex regulatory information to internal partners as required
  • Ensure new product introduction is not stalled by missing or late regulatory certifications
  • Ensure that changes made to products or product components are approved for Safety/EMC/RF/Environmental regulations and that certification is maintained
  • Manage the external partners used for testing of products, in pursuit of regulatory approval and certification
  • Act as key contact for regulatory agencies and facilitate information between technical specialists/engineers and outside contractors as needed
  • Ensure proper sign-offs and subsequent archiving of certification related documents
  • Pursue certification, including follow-up, in order to meet internal deadlines
  • Maintain organized data files and documentation
  • Review product changes and workflows on Agile and enter safety critical data
  • Facilitate testing as required and within timeframes, through relationships with outside testing contractors (globally); and help arrange engineering visits to test sites, and vice versa.
  • Assist in the smooth implementation of audits and inspections related to certifications
  • Get approvals on invoices for renewal fees and ensure payment in a timely manner
  • Keep up to date on changing regulations and communicate developments to interested parties
