Product Developer, Electrical (Christie Medical)

The Product Developer, Electrical role calls for an individual to help us design and develop electronics systems for medical devices. This role requires the ability to engage with a wide variety of tasks; design, development, testing, root cause analysis, EOL, and product enhancement. To meet the challenge of being a Product Developer you will need:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer, Systems Design or Mechatronics Engineering – OR     Engineering Technologist Diploma + significant prior relevant experience
  • 1-3 years’ of experience. Coop terms considered as experience.
  • Hardware design including digital and analog circuitry.
  • Experience with schematic capture design tools (Mentor graphics, Allegro, Altium, Eagle, etc…)
  • Understanding of PCBA manufacturing, assembly and test processes.
  • Understanding of Electromagnetic compatibility EMC and its impact on the design
  • Understanding of electrical safety standard requirements (ex: IEC60601-1)
  • Familiar with I2C, SPI, RS232 serial communication bus
  • Understanding of the linear/switching DC-DC power converter designs
  • Understanding of high current LED driver designs.
  • Proficient with use of lab instrumentation – scopes, DMM, soldering tools, probes
  • SFW programming skills; C, Assembler (arm, MSP430), C#, C++ an asset.
  • Knowledge of scripting language (Shell, Perl, tcl, Python etc…)
  • Hardware Programming VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
