Advanced Product Developer, Mechanical

The Advanced Product Developer, Mechanical role calls for an agile individual with a versatile skill set. The role encompasses all facets of product development; from CAD design and detailing to performance simulation and advanced testing and verification. Success in this role requires one to navigate cross-functional aspects of product development throughout specification development, system integration and commercialization by utilizing a holistic approach to developing display solutions.

To meet the challenge of being an Advanced Product Developer you will need:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology with minimum eight years' experience in the design of mechanical, and preferably optical devices
  • Proficient in the use of 3D Parametric Solid Modelling, CAD Packages, preferably Solidworks, and the development of detailed engineering drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing techniques
  • Expert at designing for high-volume manufacturing and cost optimization
  • Experience designing the following: injection moulded plastic parts, sheet metal parts, machined parts and assemblies, mechanisms
  • Experience using design tools such as : DMFA, DFMEA, PFMEA, Poka-Yoke
  • Knowledge of rapid and conventional prototyping techniques
  • Thermal analysis expertise is an asset
  • Ability, and preferably experience, in working with offshore contract manufacturers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An exceptional team player with experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
